FPL Energy built and operates this new wind farm, a massive operation capable of generating up to 106.5 megawatts. It sells the electricity to Public Service Company of Oklahoma under a long-term contract. The project ultimately will encompass as many as seventy-one 1.5-megawatt wind turbines, covering more than 3,800 acres in Custer County. When the turbines are operating at peak capacity, they churn out enough electricity to power more than 31,000 homes.
